This is the story of a cocktail that I did not try a few weeks ago! Let me explain. Eric & Andrew went out on a Saturday morning to golf with a friend & his young son. Not being a golfer, I usually hang out at Andrew’s home while the guys golf. When they pick me up afterwards, we head to a favored restaurant in town, this time with Tom & Dean joining us for lunch. The guys got some beer & I was looking over the menu at the Fall apple cocktails. Being a fan of Fireball Whiskey, I decided to try the apple cocktail listing Fireball as an ingredient. But I misread the menu and ordered the wrong drink. I ended up with an Apple Bellini, apple cider + Champagne. It was good, but nothing special, so, not blog material. Since it was my mistake, I did not feel right about sending it back. Nor did I want a second cocktail at lunchtime! Instead, I snapped a picture of the ingredients with the thought of coming up with an original version at home.
Not having tasted the original mixed drink I was hoping to recreate, I can’t say if this concoction comes close. What I can tell you is that we enjoyed it! It has a taste profile similar to a pie I make for the Thanksgiving holiday. I’ll have to post that pie recipe this holiday season, as I just realized I have never posted it and it is one of Eric’s favorite apple pies! In the meantime, here’s to Fall weather & apple season!
