When hot & humid Summer weather comes around, light & refreshing lemonade is what I reach for when I want something more than plain water. What is even better than traditional lemonade made with lemon juice, sugar, and water is a blend of 3 citrus fruit juices combined into the lemonade.
Citrus fruits (a group which includes not only orange, lemon, lime, and grapefruit varieties, but also kumquats and pomelos) are characterized by juice-filled segments of flesh encased in a leathery rind, most often with a sour taste. They are native to the tropical and subtropical regions of Southeast Asia. Over millions of years, the small edible berries of three (possibly four) ancestral species of citrus were hybridized and evolved into the large citrus fruits we enjoy today. The juice of oranges, lemons, and limes compose this rejuvenated summertime classic!
