On a snowy January day back in 2020, I participated in a mixology class. We made three separate cocktails. My favorite one of the night was simple, gin & tonic with a twist of lime. It became my go-to cocktail when dining out and something I experimented with at home. On a whim one evening, I added a splash of St. Germaine Elderflower liqueur to my cocktail. And loved it! I now make my gin & tonic’s that way at home and ask for a splash of the liqueur to be added to my G&T when out.
Last Fall, at another mixology class, the mixologist referred to elderflower liqueur as “the ketchup of the bartending trade”. I definitely agree – both are condiments that make everything they are served with taste better. And there’s no better time to share this recipe than today, for National Gin & Tonic Day!
