For a vacation a few years ago, Eric & I did an REI adventure trip to the San Juan Islands, off the coast of Washington State. It was a 5-day biking-hiking-kayaking trip with some camping, some glamping, and some hotel stays. It was incredible! For me, the best part was kayaking between the islands with orcas in view. We added a few extra days to the end of our trip to explore Seattle. That was also an amazing experience.
Along with the Space Needle, Chihully Garden & Glass, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center, we visited Pike Place Market. At 100+ years old, it is one of the oldest continuously operating farmers’ markets in the United States, located along the waterfront of Elliot Bay. That was where we happened upon Chukar Cherries, a Pacific Northwest foods & gifts company offering a variety of treats made with locally grown cherries and berries. I fell in love with their chocolate covered dried cherries. And while I have sampled many other brands, their chocolate covered dried cherries are far & away the best. Their cherries are dried without any added sugar or preservatives, then coated in premium chocolate. Just heavenly!
The tart cherry & rich chocolate flavors of my beloved Chukar Cherries are recreated in this martini, and a natural choice for a Valentine’s celebration. Cheers!
